Before her time in the Midlands, Jones worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor for WJBF NewsChannel 6 in Augusta. There, she started as an AP, working her way up to producer and eventually a reporter.
During her reporting career, Jones became the voice of the community. Further, she broadcast various social matters, including low-income and underserved/policed communities and homelessness problems in the city.
