Dee Cortez Education
Cortez joined Pima Community College in 2010 after completing her high school studies. Cortez started as a radio DJ at a station called Power 97.5. Six months later, the station was sold, and she began working as an airborne traffic reporter for local radio and TV stations. Briefly after, she transitioned to local TV screens as an in-studio traffic anchor.
Though she has always enjoyed Monsoon and found the weather interesting, Hurricane Katrina ignited her fascination with atmospheric science. Her weather fill-in anchor training enabled her to realize her passion for forecasting.
After graduating from college, she eventually relocated to Colorado to experience more dynamic weather extremes. She and her husband decided to return to Tucson to be closer to family after the birth of her daughter.
