Since joining News Channel 5, Lamb’s storytelling has been recognized with 15 Emmy Awards, a national Edward R. Murrow Writing Award, two national SPJ Sigma Delta Chi Feature Reporting Awards, and a National Headliner Award.
Lamb’s reporting won earned him the 2016 National Press Photographers Association’s Photojournalism Award. In 2022, he earned an honorable mention in the Scripps Give Light Awards for Upholding the First Amendment, following a chain of stories that prompted the resignation of a local police chief.
Lamb has recently shifted his focus to coaching and developing storytelling skills in aspiring journalists. In this capacity, he has coached and mentored dozens of multimedia journalists and reporters at multiple Scripps TV stations on the methods of sharing meaningful stories that bond with people.
Lamb has taught team storytelling techniques to journalists from across the nation at professional seminars and workshops in Seattle, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Anchorage, and Oklahoma City.
Lamb has broadcast multiple big stories while at NewsChannel 5. He traveled countrywide after the hunt for AMBER Alert suspect Tad Cummins. He filed reports from the beaches of Florida during the approach of Hurricane Matthew.
In 2018, Lamb served as the sole TV reporter to be a media witness to the first electric chair execution in the U.S. since 2013. Before moving to Nashville, he reported for KTUU in Anchorage, Alaska.
While in Alaska, Lamb reported everything, including the death of Sen. Ted Stevens, Sarah Palin’s Vice Presidential run, a volcanic eruption, and the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. Before Alaska, he reported for KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri.
