Manges recalls being enough snow to climb up onto the roof of the house and jump into the mountain of snow piled in the front yard during one particular storm during the early 1980s.
After obtaining his driver’s license, Manges frequently drove down to the lake and watched thunderstorms rolling in across the lake. Oftentimes, he got up in the middle of the night to do so. This passion, awe, and desire to know more about the weather that led him to a meteorology career.
After graduating from college, Manges launched his broadcasting career as a part-time meteorologist in Rochester, New York. He then relocated to Binghamton for a full-time position at WBNG.
