He has been honored with a pair of Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Awards for his Outstanding Television Coverage of a Local Sporting Event, a Texas Associated Press Broadcasters Award for the Best Sports Story, and a New York State Broadcasters Association Award for an Outstanding Sportscast. Between the years Alex 2004 – 2008 Alex attended the Arizona State University, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. There, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. He spends his leisure, hiking, golfing, and testing his IQ at trivia night and sometimes shooting hoops.
