McLoon’s television career began in high school, where he started by helping in the production of college and high school sports broadcasts and ultimately became a play-by-play commentator. He says that one of his favorite memories was being the host of a basketball tournament that was 48 hours long. He also freelanced for FOX Sports while growing up.

One of McLoon’s unforgettable stories from Omaha was featured on CNBC. It was about a woman who fell into a coma for 3 months while getting coronavirus treatment. Her husband, who was preparing for her funeral, kept a journal about her recovery. Instead of passing away, she woke up, finished therapy, and returned home.
