After finishing college, Montoya worked as a baseball game announcer for the Florence Freedom during the summer. She then got a job as a reporter at WB64.

Shortly after, Montoya got an opportunity to work full-time in TV news at WBBJ-TV in Jackson, Tennessee. While in Jackson, she had multiple roles including being a reporter/producer/anchor/editor. Montoya’s most memorable stories were about the 2008 Super Tuesday tornado outbreak and how the people of West Tennessee showed their resilience and determination. After his stint at WBBJ, she now joined WLWT.

Over the years of her career, she has reported on many stories such as Super Bowl XLVI in Indy, tornadoes, the Polar Vortex, presidential campaigns, the historic Ohio River flooding, and presidential campaigns.

She says that she chose to become a journalist because she gets to cover vital and significant issues in the communities.
