Holly got fascinated with the weather after experiencing the 2005 and 2004 hurricane seasons. She says that they were both inspiring and terrifying, but it intrigued her and her love in tracking the weather began there.

When Holly was a junior in college, she worked as an intern for a company that worked with Boeing, but it was her optional classes in studying weather that made her decide to pursue a career related to weather. While she was studying at MSU, she took a course that involved going out into the field. They went on a ten-day trip to chase tornadoes in the Great Plains.

She witnessed the formation, disappearance, and touchdown of 3 tornadoes. The one that stuck with her the most was called an EF-2 tornado, which means it was moderately strong. It was half a mile wide and came very close to her, passing just an eighth of a mile in front of her.

During her leisure time, she likes chilling at the beach or a swimming pool, boating, or scuba diving. She really enjoys hot weather, the tropical atmosphere, and humidity. Whenever she can, she goes fishing and diving with her husband using their boats.
