Arun Rath is an American journalist who serves as a correspondent for both NPR and WGBH. Previously he worked as the host of All Things Considered which aired every Saturday and Sunday on NPR.

Arun’s father passed away in February 2019 as a result of Alzheimer’s. Rath has an older brother who was born in England.

Arun also contributes to the study of learning science and the study of how the brain works. He previously hosted NPR’s All Things Considered on Saturdays and Sundays.
Arun has also worked as an editor, reporter, and producer during his time as a media figure. Arun has also served as a senior correspondent for the PBS programs Frontline and The World® on WGBH Boston. He began his career as an intern for NPR’s Talk of the Nation before becoming a staff member and then NPR’s Director.
In addition, while working as a senior producer for WNYC on NPR’s On the Media, he was part of the team that earned a Peabody Award in 2000. He’s also produced three Frontline documentaries, including one on alleged US Marine war crimes in Haditha, Iraq.
Michel Martin took over as the weekend presenter of All Things Considered from Rath in October 2015. Rath “will be relocating back to Boston,” according to NPR Media Relations Director Isabel Lara. Rath went to WGBH Boston and kept reporting for NPR.
On February 21, 2017, the PBS documentary series Frontline aired an episode titled “Out of Gitmo,” which Rath produced. Mansur al-Dayfi, a former Guantanamo detainee who was released to Serbia in July 2016, was the subject of the first 40 minutes of the program. Rath flew to Serbia for a visit in order to conduct in-depth research on al-Dayfi. Serbian security officials became more concerned because of his focus on al-Dayfi.

Arun Rath In It Together
During the coronavirus outbreak, Arun began a podcast called “In it Together,” which is also available on WGBH Radio. The show began to reassure listeners that they are not alone in their social isolation. Furthermore, it hosts community leaders, specialists, and doctors to deliver the most up-to-date Covid-19 information in Massachusetts.
