He previously held the same position at FOX19 WXIX and WCPO 9 News based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Prior to working at WCPO 9, he was hired at Hearst which is also based in Ohio, as a weekend morning meteorologist.

Between March 2011 and December 2016, he worked at Sinclair Broadcast Group as a weekday prime-time meteorologist. While at Sinclair Broadcast Group, he would coordinate scheduling between team members and freelance meteorologists during vacation and helped enforce our brand on all visible news monitors, tickers, and title calling during newscasts. Additionally, he cleaned up, reorganized, and scripted all animated and still icons in the Weather Central system.

Shapiro has also served with KSLA as a Multimedia Journalist and weekend meteorologist. His responsibilities included; forecasting accurate and consistent local weather, producing interactive graphics, and acting as a fill-in meteorologist. Moreover, he served as a green reporter when necessary. Previously, he was a KOKI morning meteorologist and live reporter at Newport between March 2006 and April 2008. His duties involved updating all web graphics and videos before, during, and after morning and noon newscasts. Additionally, he created and compiled new movies for morning and night newscasts and graphics for web purposes.

Shapiro was a KOLD weekend meteorologist at Raycom Media between 2004 and 2006. His job was to maintain weather computers and create all new graphics for the team which included developing a new color table and automated updating weather products. He was also responsible for teaching all interns the utilization of the weather system and forecasting. In addition to that, he compiled movies in Unix for the station and acted as a featured speaker for local schools regarding weather careers and the TV business. Shapiro also resolved local viewers’ questions about the weather and acted as a fill-in meteorologist for KOLD and KWBA.
