Cameron Hopman Education
Hopman joined Eastern Illinois University in 2006 after high school. In 2010, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Geography and a Broadcast Meteorology minor. He initially pursued a Secondary Education Major before he switched his major in early 2008.
While in college, Hopman served the Eastern Illinois University Weather Center as a weather analyst and broadcaster. His work there led him to volunteer at the school’s student-run newscast WEIU-TV’s News Watch. He worked both in front of and behind the camera during his two years. Further, he worked as a weather observer at the National Weather Service/Eastern Illinois University Observation Station.

Hopman is the Chief Meteorologist at WKOW. In this role, his forecasts appear on weeknights on 27 News at 4, 5, 6, and 10 p.m. He has implanted himself into the Madison community, planning to attend as many Badgers, Mallards, and Forward Madison games as possible.
Hopman previously worked at WEVV-TV in Evansville, Indiana, as the chief meteorologist. In this role, he researched, produced, and presented detailed evening forecasts at 5, 6, 9, and 10. He also managed and supervised the five-person 44Weather Team.
Hopman worked at WLFI in West Lafayette Indiana before he moved to Evansville. He joined the station as a morning/noon meteorologist and was later promoted to chief meteorologist. He obtained the National Weather Association Broadcaster’s Seal of Approval in July 2015.
