Nurse is working for WTXL serving as the chief meteorologist. Following his broadcast training at WTVT and WFLA in Tampa, he joined WTXL for the first time in 2003 as a weekend meteorologist. Later, he began manning the weekday morning shift for three years before moving to Houston, Texas. In Houston, he worked as a weekend meteorologist at CW affiliate KIAH.
After Houston, Nurse joined ABC 27 HD as the chief meteorologist in 2008. During his career, he has broadcasted every type of weather scenario, including many hurricane threats. He broadcasted locally and nationally during the active 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. Moreover, he reported from the scenes of several of those storms, including hurricanes Jeanne, Dennis, and Katrina.
Nurse piloted his viewers from Texas during Hurricane Ike’s landfall in 2008 and his local viewers with multi-hour broadcasts of hurricanes Hermine and Michael when they struck the Big Bend and Panhandle areas. He alongside the weather team delivered nonstop live monitoring and tracking of tornadic thunderstorms during the Mar. 3, 2012, severe weather outbreak.
