Dunn joined Fullerton College in 1987 after completing his high school education. He received an Associate of Arts degree in Broadcasting in 1988, before transferring to California State University, Chico. In 1990, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting.
Dunn joined Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2008, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Aviation Safety, merging his love of meteorology with aviation expertise. While studying at Fullerton College, he worked as a production director of KBPK-FM and general manager of KFCR-Cable FM.

Dunn has been a longtime Arizonan since 2009, and loves the state’s clear skies, desert landscapes, and community spirit. When he is not in the newsroom, he is a commercial pilot and FAA-certified flight instructor, logging over 2,000 flight hours. Moreover, he has been the captain of a Pilatus PC-12 flying passengers across North America. He once even owned an avocado farm in San Diego!
