Threlkeld joined Ball State University in 1998 after completing his high school studies. He briefly majored in telecommunications in college before switching majors. In 2002, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies.

Threlkeld is working for KSWO, serving as a co-anchor of Good Morning Texoma. A proud Army Veteran, he is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and has over two decades of service. He looks forward to bringing his leadership experience and passion for storytelling to KSWO’s newscasts.
Threlkeld’s love for broadcasting began in high school, where he was a DJco-host of a simulcast sports show on his school’s radio and TV stations: 91.3-WHJE and CHTV. He even called for various sports. Though he switched his telecommunications major in college, his passion for news and bonding with people never waned.
Before working for KSWO, Threlkeld spent more than 26 years in the military. While in the Army, he spent time as an Enlisted Infantryman in the National Guard and as an Active Duty Field Artillery Officer.
Threlkeld had combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He also worked as an operational rotation to the Republic of Korea. He wrapped up his military career as the battalion commander of 2nd Battalion, 20th Field Artillery Regiment, followed by a final assignment as the Director of the Commander’s Planning Group at the Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill.
Threlkeld is very active in the Lawton community, supporting the Lawton High School Band Boosters. He also participates in the STEM Consortium to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in the community. Moreover, he is a volunteer at Dayspring Church, where he runs sound for the Worship Team.
