She served as a student reporter for WGLT Radio, an NPR member station covering local news in Bloomington-Normal while she was in Illinois State University. In addition, she also worked at the  Illinois State University’s campus television station TV-10 serving as a producer, reporter, and host for the station’s sports segment “SportsZone.” Prior to serving as a sports reporter for ISU’s student newspaper The Vidette.

Furthermore, for her efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion through her reporting, she received a scholarship thus being named a Korva Coleman scholar while she was at the Illinois State University
