Mission Afghanistan won a Murrow Award, an Emmy Award, the military’s Seven Seals Award, and the Broadcaster of the Year Award. Perron did a series surrounding Vermont’s transgender community called “Becoming.” Becoming won a nomination for a GLAAD Award in 2009. He also won an NLGJA Association of LGBTQ Journalists Excellence in Journalism Award for sharing the coming out story of Christine Hallquist, a transgender and Vermont Electric Co-op CEO.

In 2009, he was the sole non-network reporter in the U.S. to receive a GLAAD Award nomination. His war report helped WCAX win a 2010 Virginia Association of Broadcasters Broadcaster of the Year Award. In 2019, he won another Virginia Association of Broadcasters Broadcaster of the Year Award.
