He initially joined the station as a meteorologist before moving to the evening shift in October 2008, and eventually took on his current role after Tom Crawford.
Williams has guided WCIV’s First Warning Weather team through broadcasts of multiple big weather events, like Hurricanes Matthew in 2016, Irma in 2017, Florence, and Michael. They also covered the 2015 record-breaking rainfall and flooding, and a very active 2018 with a snowstorm.
Williams experienced lethal storms, including tornadoes and blizzards, while growing up. While vacationing in South Carolina with family, he had a firsthand experience with the wrath of Mother Nature. He recalls the devastation of an F-4 Tornado in Bennettsville, South Carolina, and the aftermath of Hurricane David in Myrtle Beach. This ignited his passion for meteorology at a young age.
After graduating from college, Williams worked as a meteorologist at WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio, and Wheeling, West Virginia. Before joining ABC News 4, he was just up the road at WBTW in Myrtle Beach. He has forecasted the weather in the Palmetto State.
Williams serves as a member of the National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society. He holds the National Weather Associatio Seal of Approval.
