David Asscherick Tattoos

On July 7, 2015, Asscherick shared on his Facebook that he had recently preached twice in San Antonio for the #GCSA15 session. He mentioned that it was hot on the stage due to the lights, so he rolled up his sleeves to cool down, as seen in the photo he had recently posted. He recounted that after the sermon, a serious man approached him and rebuked him for exposing his forearm tattoo.

Asscherick explained to the man that it was hot and that he had gotten the tattoo 20 years prior. However, the man remained unmoved and insisted that Asscherick’s indiscretion could potentially lead people astray. Asscherick expressed his gratitude for the man’s concern and appreciated his passion.

Later that night, Asscherick rolled up his sleeves again because he had work to do. Following the sermon, a middle-aged woman approached him and thanked him for not hiding his tattoos. She revealed that her son had left the church and was involved in drugs and other ungodly pursuits. At the age of 25, her son saw Asscherick preaching on TV at their house and decided to listen because Asscherick had tattoos, which made him feel understood.

The mother couldn’t believe her eyes and silently prayed. When the sermon ended, her son approached her and said, “That’s a guy I can listen to because he has tattoos; he would understand me.” This marked the beginning of her son’s journey back to Christ. Asscherick concluded by acknowledging that people are different and have varying perspectives.
