He also gave live weathercasts on the award-winning UNC student-run broadcast, Carolina Week.

Dickson’s passion for weather and growing up in Arkansas placed him at the front row of severe weather events in the aptly named Tornado Alley. He moved to Raleigh, North Carolina trading tornadoes for hurricanes. While there, he attended the North Carolina State University to study meteorology.

Upon graduation, he went back west to Columbia, Missouri to work as a weekend meteorologist at KMIZ. He got a chance to move back to the East Coast closer to his family and friends after 6 months. Two years later, he spent working at WDVM in Hagerstown, Maryland which is a short drive away from D.C. and Baltimore. He reported everything from snowstorms, historic flooding, and tornadoes to widespread wind damage.

He has close family ties to Mt. Pleasant and Charleston. During his free time, he likes watching movies, hanging out with his fiance and springer spaniel, cooking, playing mandolin, and video games, traveling as well as exploring brand new places, and traveling to see family and friends.
