Koeller’s passion for the weather began when he was only 5 years old. At the time, he saw a tornado make landfall near his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ever since, he has been absorbed with forecasting, severe weather, weather patterns, and understanding the reasons behind it.
Originally, Koeller didn’t want to be on TV. In high school, he dreamt of working for the National Weather Service. It was in college that he realized he enjoyed talking about the weather a little too much, realizing that the best move to make was TV. He says that he is never tired of answering questions about the forecasts.
After graduating from college, Koeller relocated to Springfield, Missouri, to serve FOX 5 as the chief meteorologist until September 2018. He then moved to Omaha, where he worked until 2024.
