Hules started his acting career at the Cellar Theatre in Budapest. At just 17 years old, he began directing movies, making music, and writing plays. He frequently visited the International School of Theatrical Anthropology in Germany and the Laboratory Theatre in Poland. After serving as a director at the National Theatres of Szeged and Pecs, and working in Radio and TV, Hules went to Paris, France, and later to New York. There, he taught writing, acting, and directing, and directed for the stage at various places, including Espace Acteur, New York University, Smith College, University of Southern California, Bard College, and more, all across Asia, North America, and Europe.
Hules directed a lot of different kinds of plays, from old classics to musicals and new experimental projects. He worked on plays by famous writers like Moliere, Shakespeare, Calderon, Chekhov, Goldoni, Stoppard, Pinter, Brecht, Orton, Miller, and Ibsen. His work was showcased at various places, including the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Biennale de Paris, La Mama in New York, the Shakespeare World Congress, and the Los Angeles Theatre Center. After working in New York, he went to Los Angeles to give filmmaking a try. After graduating from the American Film Institute, where he had made and produced a number of short films, he started serving as a Producing Fellow there.
Hules has been working in the entertainment industry for over two decades, starting as an actor with SBV Talent in Los Angeles in the year 2003. Concurrently, he has ventured into directing, writing, and producing with Three Maidens LLC, a role he has held for more than 23 years. In the realm of film development and production, Hules contributed as a writer for “Prima Primavera” with Eurofilm from 2003 to 2009. Additionally, he has taken on the role of writer-director for “Homage to 1956” from 2004 to 2007.
