Eric earned his bachelor’s degree in atmospheric sciences at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. While a student, Eric researched tornados in the Northern Plains, and won an undergraduate research award for his work.

Green is working for KOAT 7, serving as a morning meteorologist. Even though it may not rain much in New Mexico, the region does have active weather. He says that this is his answer whenever people tell him how easy it is to be a meteorologist in a state where the sun is shining most of the time.
In 2004, Green earned the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) seal of approval. 4 years later, he obtained the organization’s AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation.
Before KOAT 7 News, Green worked for WLWT in Cincinnati as a weekend meteorologist. While in the Ohio Valley, he traced everything, including big winter storms with heavy snow and ice, tornadoes, and drastic summer storms. Prior to Ohio, he worked as a meteorologist at WOWK in Huntington, West Virginia, and KBJR-TV in Duluth, Minnesota.
Besides forecasting, Green works as a wrestling coach at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, where he has been an assistant coach since 2011. Additionally, he visits car shows and local racetracks, where he’s been known to race at times. Additionally, he profiles local cars and their owners in his Auto Ambush segment.
