Barajas serves ABC 13 News as a News Anchor and Reporter. Prior to joining ABC13, he was initially working at KSAT 12 in San Antonio where he served as a weekend anchor and reporter for four years. He started his television career in Corpus Christi, Texas at KZTV 10 where he wore numerous hats. Erik as well worked as a news photographer, anchor, producer, and reporter.
He added his involvement in all those different positions helped give him an understanding and position of the challenges it takes to produce the news. Later he went to Austin, Texas, and to KTBC Fox 7 to serve as the station’s weekend reporter and anchor.
Barajas covered the most notable stories on the crash of the space shuttle Columbia on the borders of Texas and Louisiana. Besides, he traveled to Louisiana to cover the Gulf Oil spill and later reported from Austin, Texas, to cover President Barack Obama’s visit there.
He appreciated working in Houston at KTRK-TV since it was “a true blessing” because he can do what he does for a living “in front of family and friends”. Erik added, “Staying in Texas the whole of my career, up to this point has been eye-opening in terms of really getting to know the state extensively and realizing just how diverse this state really is.”
