Arias got her breakthrough in TV news at WPRI-TV in Providence. A few months on the job, she was assigned to broadcast one of the biggest breaking news stories in New England, the Station nightclub fire in West Warwick. She filed live reports through the night of the blaze and was the only reporter to interview a nightclub survivor, live from inside the hospital. She won an Emmy for her work in the station’s news broadcast.
Arias went to Las Vegas to broadcast the arrest of “the Ohio sniper,” the Bellagio blackout, and the Ted Binion murder re-trial. She also conducted interviews with celebrities like Nikki Hilton, Anna Nicole Smith, Robert Redford, and Kobe Bryant. Moreover, she portrayed a local news anchor on the big screen in “Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous.”
Following her time in Las Vegas, Arias moved further west to Southern California. She went on a hiatus from the news business, but couldn’t stay away completely.
