Childers worked as a reporter in Shreveport Louisiana for 11 years. Additionally, he was awarded the Reporter of the Year Award in 2009, by The Louisiana Broadcaster Association. In addition, he spent 13 days in and around New Orleans as he covered the hurricane’s arrival and the devastating floods that followed. Childers has marked this as his most unforgettable coverage. He delivered live reports to stations all across the country including Louisiana.
He started his career in journalism in 1998, as a weekend anchor and reporter at the CBS affiliate, KAUZ TV based in Wichita Falls, Texas. Later on, Childers became the manager of Cable Channel 7. During his time as a journalist, he has described his experience as very fulfilling, rewarding, and exciting. During his free time, he loves visiting new restaurants together with his wife, playing with his pets; De Oro, Cocoa, and Maggie Mae and sometimes running, through which he discovered the beautiful jogging path at LSU Lake.
