Fields serves at WFAA as a morning meteorologist, a role he has held since April 2001. At WFAA, he specializes in weather reporting and forecasting for television and digital. He began as a Weekend Evening Meteorologist at the station. His career in Broadcast Meteorology began in the year 1989 at a TV station in his hometown, Lexington, Kentucky. Later on, he moved to Tyler, Texas, Tampa, Florida, and Kansas City, Missouri.

In an interview, Fields expressed his gratitude for having the opportunity to work and live in the place he always wanted to be. During his time in Tyler in the early 1990s, he would visit Dallas and feel a strong connection, believing that it was where he truly belonged. He made a promise to himself back then that he would return, and now he considers Dallas his adopted hometown.

Fields also said that the most fulfilling aspect of his job is being able to engage with the community and visit local schools. He enjoys talking to kids about his passion for science and emphasizes the importance of math if they aspire to become meteorologists. When asked about something surprising about him, he shared that his very 1st job after college was as a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service.

He worked there for approximately one year. His 1st TV job was working as a studio camera operator, but he admitted that he was not very skilled at it. Due to his background in meteorology from college, he was moved to the News Department as a Weather Producer. From there, his career took off, and the rest, as they say, is history. When coming to his education, he is a proud alumnus of Western Kentucky University.

During his leisure time, he likes sleeping, rooting for any sporting event, trying new cuisines in different restaurants, or traveling with his family. Fields has always had a passion for sports and he has been a Dallas Cowboys fan since he was a child. Growing up, his favorite players were Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson, and Roger Staubach, which is why he considers them to be America’s Team. He is also a big fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball. Additionally, during college football season, one can find him wearing burnt orange in support of his team.
