While working in Fargo, LaPoint obtained the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal. She was the first meteorologist in the Fargo television market to obtain the designation. In 2013, she joined the Board of Broadcast Meteorologists of the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
