She had a face-to-face interview with Christopher Burns (State Supreme Court Justice) right after he gave a sentence to Altemio Sanchez AKA “Bike Path Killer.” Walker reported on Buffalo Bills fans at 4 Super Bowls in a row. Additionally, she went to Oklahoma City to report on the bombing at the Federal Building.

She’s been involved with many groups like the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the American Association of University Women, Hospice Buffalo, and other local groups. She’s been an active member of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association and SAG-AFTRA for a long time.

The following year, the Kevin Guest House in Buffalo awarded Walker the Heart of Loyalty Award. In the year 2010, the American Association of University Women, Buffalo Branch honored her with the Woman of Achievement Award.
In addition to these major accolades, Walker has received many nominations and awards throughout her career, including those from RTDNA National and the NYS Associated Press, as well as Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from Sigma Delta Chi, NYS Broadcasters’ Association, UPI, and others. Notably, the NYS Associated Press awarded Walker 2 First Place Awards for General Excellence of Individual Reporting.
She became an inductee of the Buffalo Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame in the year 2011. At the Buffalo Excellence in Media Awards, Walker received the Television Personality of the Year award in the year 2012. In the subsequent year, Business First named Walker “One of the Most Influential People in Western New York”. In the year 2014, Walker was recognized as an Honorary Member of the Getzville Fire Company. The Girl Scouts of Western New York honored Walker with the ‘Woman of Distinction’ Award in the year 2015. Two years later, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society recognized Walker with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her over 3 decades of service to individuals living with multiple sclerosis. She received the Silver Circle Award presented by NATAS (the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences), New York Chapter, in the year 2018 for contributing to the community and TV industry.
JWalker’s community service was acknowledged with a $5,000 college scholarship given to a local student by the American Association of University Women, Buffalo Branch, for 14 years (from 2009 to 2023). Walker was honored with an induction into the Hall of Fame of New York State Broadcasters in the year 2021. For her work on “A Toxic Nightmare: The Awakening – The Buffalo Story: History Happens Here” as a Co-Producer, she received a New York Emmy in the Environment/Science category on June 7, 2021.
