After she had graduated from the University of Stirling, in 1996, she became an assigned BBC trainee. She served as a foreign correspondent for ten years, and during this time she often reported from war zones such as the Middle East.
Interestingly, she was the first to present the first live Television interview with astronaut Tim Peake from the International Space Station. Furthermore, she gained criticism for her comments during an interview about ‘no-fault evictions’ in April 2019, whereby she was accused of “patronizing” and “insensitive” while she was questioning Kirsty Archer the housing campaigner.
