Scott’s journey into broadcasting began during his 2nd year of high school, where he discovered his passion for radio. When he was 15 years old, he secured his first gig as a disc jockey (DJ) at KATI AM, spinning tunes on the weekend graveyard shift at a Top-40 rock-and-roll station. As the summer rolled in, Scott’s dedication earned him a promotion to the coveted drive-time slot during the weekdays. Throughout high school and college, he continued to pursue his love for broadcasting, honing his skills on the airwaves. Upon entering college, Scott’s talents caught the attention of the campus station, where he was appointed as the student news director.
Right after finishing college, Scott landed his first big role as the news director at KASL-AM in Newcastle, Wyoming. He then transitioned into TV journalism, starting at KCWY TV in Casper. In the year 1983, Scott made a move to Bakersfield, where he became an anchor and reporter for KERO-TV. Following that, he worked at KFMB-TV, then KUSI-TV, and finally KGET-TV.
Besides journalism, Scott is also passionate bout giving back to the community. He regularly hosts fundraising events for several charitable causes. He sees this as his opportunity to contribute back to the kind and generous community of Kern County.
