Gazin attended the University of Southern California campus. Later on, he went to KABC radio in Los Angeles where he was among the pioneers in talk radio shows, having his own 4-hour program sandwiched between then-mayor Tom Bradley and Regis Philbin.
In 1975, was when he made a decision to enter the world of television and he was able to secure a job in Wausau and Madison, Wisconsin before deciding to ‘ditch the cold’ in 1977 for the warmer climate of Corpus Christi, where he has worked for KIII for a period of forty-three years.
While he was at KIII, he won a number of awards such as Associated Press awards (Best Story, Best Newscast) and many community accolades for public service and fundraising. Furthermore, he covered stories internationally and most notably, from Cuba, Mexico, Panama, and Colombia.
