Before that, he spent 5 and a half years at NBC News, where at first he was a Producer in Washington D.C., but later he became a Digital Producer.

Throughout his career, Toohey had some special moments he will always remember. One time, he had a fun adventure checking out the George Washington Bridge, but he didn’t climb it; he took an elevator instead (though he playfully says he climbed it). Another exciting experience was visiting the West Point Mint, where he got to see the government’s second-largest gold vaults. Also, he had the chance to watch a helicopter rescue demonstration by the US Coast Guard in New York Harbor, though he didn’t actually jump into the water.
Among the important things he accomplished was winning an Emmy award for his report about huge abandoned statues of all the United States presidents. After finishing college, he received the Tim Russert Post-Graduate Fellowship as special recognition. This helped him begin his career at the famous news program hosted by the late Tim Russert.
