Prior to joining NPR, he worked for the TEGNA-owned CBS station in Washington, D.C., WUSA, as a digital multiskilled journalist.

Franklin covered and reported on some of the most important stories in the last two years, including the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the Black/African American community, D.C.’s racial protests and demonstrations in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death, the 2020 presidential election, and the January 6 insurgency on the United States Capitol.
