Following her diagnosis, Luck took a five-month medical leave. She underwent surgery to remove the primary tumor and affected tissue and four rounds of chemotherapy. She was later declared cancer-free.
In May 2022, she officially completed her chemotherapy. In celebration, she rang the Cone Health Hospital Cancer Survivor’s Bell. Tests later confirmed her cancer was in remission, allowing her to safely return to her usual schedule at the station.
Following her ordeal, Luck advocates for health screenings. She encourages people to get tested at the recommended age of 45. She also actively works with the Colon Cancer Coalition and hosts events like Get Your Rear in Gear.
After she was declared in remission, Luck cut back her work duties. She also told viewers she would no longer anchor the late news so that she could focus on her health.
