Karen has been in Minnesota for 14 years, but she had to travel a long way to get here. Karen and I started our careers in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, in a TV barn. She then traveled to Greenville, Mississippi, Evansville, Indiana, Salt Lake City, Utah, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and eventually to FOX 9 in Philadelphia.

Karen is a Syracuse University graduate. She currently anchors and reports three days a week on Friday and Saturday nights. She has spent much of her career reporting on crime tales, including the kidnapping and subsequent release of Elizabeth Smart. She’s also observed a lethal injection execution.

But the story that she still remembers the most is that of 10-year-old Barway Collins of Crystal, Minnesota, who vanished and was brutally murdered. She enjoys reporting on topics that raise awareness about vital issues and offer people a voice in their communities.

The 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Games, when Karen had the opportunity to meet individuals and athletes from all around the world, was one of the most enjoyable stories Karen has covered (apart from the Minnesota State Fair, of course).  Karen, her husband Dan, and their two sons, Jack and Max (Go Hawks!) live in Chaska. They also have a dog who is pretty much the most perfect dog imaginable. Boomer is his name.
