Her first stint was from December 2009 to December 2011, where she worked as a Weekend News Anchor and General Assignment Reporter. It was during her first stint that she began her career in journalism.
Since rejoining NBC29, Hott has reported stories that matter most to the Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia. She provided live coverage of the deadly events that surrounded the 2017 Unite the Right Rally that made headlines global-wide. After her first stint, she went to work for WGBA-TV – NBC26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin as a 5 p.m. news anchor, producer, and videojournalist. She stayed there for 2 years and 7 months (December 2011 – June 2014).
