Growing up in Central Queensland, Australia, Titheradge did not imagine a future working on the water, as he never learned to surf as a child. However, at the age of 18, Titheradge encountered a setback when the company where he was apprenticing as an electrician closed down. Determined to find work, he embarked on a job hunt, knocking on doors until he secured a position.
Titheradge landed an interview for a deckhand position on a parasailing boat, despite having no experience in the maritime industry. Eager to prove himself, he took the opportunity and went above and beyond during the interview, offering to perform various tasks to demonstrate his commitment and enthusiasm. His persistence paid off, and he was hired on the spot. Thus, Titheradge’s career on the water began.
Over three decades, Titheradge worked on a diverse array of vessels, including parasailing boats, water taxis, ferries, landing barges, tug boats, dredges, and yachts. His roles ranged from deckhand to steward, engineer, captain, and first officer, accumulating valuable experience and expertise along the way. In 2004, Titheradge made the move to West Palm Beach, Florida, where he captained a boat based in North Palm Beach. Later, in 2014, he relocated to Palm Beach Gardens, drawn by the city’s top-rated public schools, where he enrolled his two children.
