Galvan is no stranger to the Rio Grande Valley, as she previously served KRGV as a reporter for 5 years, from 2000 to 2005. During her first stint at KRGV, she reported and broke several stories, like a cyanide truck hijacking in Mexico, the terror-related capture of Farida Ahmed near the border, the assassination of Mexico’s former top drug cop in McAllen, and the partial failure of the Queen Isabella (Memorial) Causeway.
Galvan went to Arizona to face John Feit about the killing of Irene Garza. John was sentenced 14 years after she won her first TAPB award for investigative reporting on the case.
Following her initial stint at KRGV, Galvan moved to FOX Houston as a reporter. She held the position for ten years, from 2005 to 2015. However, her was always pulled toward the Valley.
During her time in Houston, Galvan came back to the Valley many times to report on immigration and border security matters, and during Hurricane Dolly and other tropical storms. Also, she won an Emmy Award and helped anchor a six-hour-long morning newscast. The network requested her to file reports for the FOX Television Stations Group and Fox News Channel.
Kristine refused to renew a contract offer to remain in Houston in 2015, opting to return to the Dallas/Fort Worth region to be closer to her nieces. Shortly after, her youngest niece was diagnosed with pediatric hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The doctors recommended open-heart surgery. Thus, she stayed in North Texas until her niece, who had the surgery at 23 months old, recuperated.
