Kurtis began his career at 6 News in July 2016 as a news and sports reporter, as well as a fill-in sports anchor, until being promoted to Sports Reporter/Weekend Sports Anchor in August 2019. In November of 2020, he was named Sports Director.

He is an active football and basketball official with the Texas Association of Sports Officials and the Texas High School Basketball Officials Association when he is not breaking stories or presenting the tales of Central Texas athletes, coaches, and fans.

Kurtis earned his B.A. in sports media with a focus on multimedia journalism and a minor in sports management from Oklahoma State University in 2016.

During the spring semester of 2016, the faculty at the School of Media & Strategic Communications awarded him the outstanding senior on his degree track. Quillin received multiple accolades from the Broadcast Education Association, the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association, and the National Broadcasting Society while at OSU.
