After graduating from college, Westbrook launched her career in Central Texas, where she was a reporter at KWTX. While at KWTX, she broadcast historic flooding and the Fort Hood shooting in 2009 that killed 13 people. Also, she participated n the yearly Food for Families drive, an event that remains near and dear to her heart.
Westbrook moved to Baton Rouge in 2011, where she served WAFB as a morning anchor. Shortly after joining the station, she started anchoring the station’s noon program. There, her teams earned first-place Associated Press awards, honors from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters, and Emmy nominations.
In 2016, Westbrook co-anchored the broadcast of a fatal police shooting, winning WAFB an Edward R. Murrow Award. One month later, she stayed on the anchor desk for hours at a time over multiple days to cover the unprecedented flooding in Baton Rouge that claimed lives and devastated thousands of homes and businesses. That disaster motivated Louisiana natives, Randy Jackson and Harry Connick Jr., to co-host a nationally televised concert with her to collect funds for people whose livelihoods were ruined.
Westbrook enjoys sports and takes pride in covering the LSU Tigers’ National Championship victory in New Orleans. Also, she worked as the co-host of the victory parade through Baton Rouge, which aired nationwide. The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters named her its first Young Professional of the Year in early 2020.
Westbrook has a passion for her work with the Boys and Girls Club, helping raise thousands of dollars for needy children. Moreover, she has worked as an MC of many events for charitable organizations and was actively involved with multiple animal rescue groups.
