Since Paul was young, she has always enjoyed performing. Growing up, she used to love art, music, and theater and spent a lot of time at the community theater. Even though Paul quit performing after her first year in college, Paul still loves theater. She’s passionate about reporting on stories that touch on a wide range of topics, like community events, education, crime, politics, arts, weather, technology, and more.
Paul says that her favorite part of her job is experiencing something new every day and meeting people who are passionate about their community. She enjoys sharing stories and news that can make a difference to at least one viewer. Reflecting on her childhood aspirations, she shared that she wanted to do everything but hoped to voice-act for a movie or video game in the future. When asked what got her interested in news, Paul explained that broadcast news has a significant impact and appeals to everyone, regardless of their background. She believes that news shows are essential for community growth and raising general awareness, expressing that she couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.
In addition to her journalism work, Maddie is passionate about volunteering. She has helped organize a non-profit organization with her community and friends to raise awareness and funds for Friedreich’s Ataxia. During high school, she served as the president of “Fine Arts for Friedreich’s Ataxia” (FA4FA), a student-run, student-led nonprofit organization.
