Marco Ramirez Education
Ramirez joined the University of Texas at Austin after completing his studies at McAllen High School. Later, he graduated with two degrees in Journalism and American Studies.
During his time in college, Ramirez was involved with the news department at Texas Student Television, the country’s only student-run FCC-licensed TV station. He was later promoted to an executive producer for the station’s weekly newscast, Texas News Channel.
Ramirez interned with the CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell in New York City. In this role, he participated in the relaunching the Evening News program as Norah O’Donnell took over the anchor desk. Moreover, he was assigned to produce a story with four of his fellow interns. His team won the CBS News internship competition for their story, “Death with Dignity,” which was aired live on CBSN.
Following his time in New York, Ramirez interned at KXAN News, the NBC affiliate in Austin, Texas. There, he gained hands-on experience of working in a local newsroom by helping reporters and producers, as well as writing web stories for the station’s digital team.
