During his debut in the Valley in the 80s, Curtis traveled the country covering sports for 12News. He remained at the station until 1987, when he left for Minneapolis, Minnesota, with his pregnant wife. In Minnesota, he worked as the sports director at KSTP, the ABC affiliate. In this role, he covered the Minnesota Twins’ run to the 1987 World Series.
Following three years in the Twin Cities, Curtis relocated to St. Louis as the main sportscaster and play-by-play voice for St. Louis University basketball. He has always dreamed of returning to Phoenix with his family. He achieved that dream in 1995 when he rejoined 12News in 1995 as a sports anchor. In 2004, he transitioned to the news desk.
During his career, Curtis has broadcast numerous big stories, including two World Series and five different Olympic Games, including Sochi. He has also contributed to 12News’ political coverage, covering Presidential primaries all the way through to inaugurations.
