Bennett is working for WWAY, serving as a Good Morning Carolina anchor and noon anchor. He initially joined the station in December 2016 as a production assistant, earning a promotion to producer in July 2017.
As a producer, he produced WWAY’s weekend newscasts and helped with Good Morning Carolina. In June 2018, he transitioned to a reporter, eventually becoming an anchor in August 2019. He temporarily stepped away from news in November 2021 before returning in April 2022 to co-anchor Good Morning Carolina with Donna Gregory.
During his time at WWAY, Bennett has broadcast multiple big local stories, including the sale of New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Hurricane Florence, and weeks of protests after the death of George Floyd. He recently won an RTDNAC Award for his broadcast of volatile school board meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic.
