In three weeks of her time in Denver 7, she covered the ambush of Douglas County sheriff’s deputies on New Year’s Eve which made her earn her first Emmy award. Before joining Denver7, she served at KFOX14/ CBS4 El Paso in Texas as a Weekend News Anchor/ Reporter. Before going to KFOX, she worked for RT in Washington D.C. as a news reporter and anchor. There she also served as a Deputy News Editor.
Germany and the Czech Republic were where she spent her time after graduating with a journalism group from college to meet with EU and NATO officials and tour European newsrooms to see how they tell the news. She began as a video editor and writer in 2009 after accepting a job with RTTV America in Washington, D.C, and worked her way up to being a producer and eventually became a reporter. She served as the first-weekend anchor for, KFOX and KDBC at El Paso in 2014.
Lopez spent most of her time reporting on border issues and specialized in political coverage during her time in El Paso. All of the major presidential and vice-presidential candidates who campaigned and several congressional candidates in El Paso were interviewed by her. She reported in Ciudad Juarez for a week on the Pope’s historic visit to Mexico. During her downtime, she likes spending ample time with her family, friends, and two nephews. Additionally, she loves reading, and traveling, and swears she can out-Harry Potter even the biggest Potter-heads.
