Michael Gross Education

Gross joined the State University at Oswego in Central New York in August 2018 after completing his studies at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. In May 2022, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism. Within one month, he began serving the student-run television station as a sports anchor on the nightly news.

Gross also did play-by-play commentary on WTOP-10 TV. He was promoted to assistant sports director, a role he held for his final two years of undergrad. Also, he served as the lead broadcaster for three College Broadcasters Inc. Awards the station was recognized.

Gross was involved with the student-run radio station, WNYO 88.9 FM, and the student-run newspaper, The Oswegonian. While at WNYO, his radio show “The Hot Corner” was among the most listened to sports shows on the air for more than two years in the Oswego region.

He also delivered play-by-play commentary for Oswego Lakers softball and baseball games. He discovered his passion for writing as the assistant sports editor at The Oswegonian during his final two years of undergrad. Moreover, he served as the beat writer for both soccer and baseball, as well as contributed stories for other sports at the college.
