During his time as a journalist, he has been honored with five Regional Edward R. Murrow awards, two National Headliner Awards, and eight Regional Emmy awards. Additionally, he was awarded the Louisville Society of Professional Journalists and the Missouri Broadcasters Association.
While at Fox 2 and News 11, he covered some of the biggest stories including; the resignation of former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens and local unrest in the summer of 2020 following the death of George Floyd. Colombo moderated the events program entitled Post Scripts on KTVI. He served as the fill-in host of political and community affairs shows on KPLR and KTVI.
Prior to joining FOX 2, he worked at KMOV based in Greater St. Louis as a Consumer Investigative Reporter and Fill-in Anchor for four years from April 2012 to April 2016. Previously, he was a reporter at WHAS 11 based in Louisville, KY for one year from June 2010 to April 2012. He started his journalism career in Quincy, IL as a reporter and fill-in anchor at NBC affiliate WGEM for two years between October 2008 and June 2010. Throughout his career, he has received several awards and recognitions including the Regional Emmy Award and Regional Edward R. Murrow Award in the year 2016. In 2015, he won the National Headliner Award and the Regional Edward R. Murrow Award among others.
Colombo is actively involved in the community during his free time. He works with the St. Louis Crisis Nursery the ACS’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and the St. Louis Crisis Nursery. He is a Board member of the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer initiative in St. Louis and is an active volunteer in the community.
