Mike Taylor Education

He studied Mechanical Engineering there until 2006, when he decided to change majors and pursue a degree in Atmospheric Sciences. He also spent time in northern lower Michigan and the U.P. as a forecaster, providing weather updates in Alpena and Marquette.
During his time in Central Illinois, Taylor was on the air when multiple tornadoes passed through the state during the November 17, 2013, Tornado Outbreak. In this capacity, he and the meteorology team spent 4 solid hours delivering the latest warnings and tornado reports to the public. Fortunately, no one died in his viewing area, and he believes it was because of the gutsy call for the weather team to cut into an NFL game. Even though he received 10 pounds of hate mail for cutting into the game, he knows they made the right decision. This event cemented his passion for protecting people during severe weather.
