He has also worked for KCRA (NBC) in Sacramento, CA as a weekend morning weather anchor for 3 years, as well as for KESQ in Palm Desert/Palm Springs and KSBY in San Luis Obispo as a weather reporter and anchor.

In the year 2002, Mayeda the Northern California NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) honored him with an Emmy for his work on “On Camera News: Weather”. He also earned an Emmy Award nomination in the year 2008 for being the producer of a documentary called “From Dreams To Dust,” which was about the internment camps of Japanese-American people during World War 2. In the year 2011, the Northern California National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recognized Mayeda with an Emmy for “On Camera Talent Anchor: Weather”. Four years later, Mayeda received the “Top Media Ally” award from LFNC at the yearly Purple Ribbon Gala.

Besides working on TV, Mayeda also works as a lecturer at San José State University in San Jose, California, and Cal State East Bay in Hayward, California. He is actively involved in the American Meteorological Society and holds their seal of approval. Mayeda is also active in the community. He has served as a host for the 5K Walk/Run, and a board member of the Lupus Foundation of Northern California. Additionally, Mayeda has gone with the Lupus Research Institute to Washington D.C. to raise awareness of lupus at congressional meetings.
