Williams serves at FOX 19 – WXIX as an Evening Anchor. He began as a weekend anchor alongside Tricia Macke at FOX 19. They worked together in that capacity for over 2 years. However, their bosses recognized the chemistry between them and decided to move them to the morning show, which was then called “19 in the Morning.”
Williams admitted that he initially resisted the change, as waking up very early in the morning didn’t seem appealing to him. After about a year on the morning show, Tricia transitioned to the evening slot, while Williams remained in the morning position. They continued in that role for an impressive 17 years, waking up at 2:15 am and arriving at work by 3:15 am for a show that eventually expanded to 6 and a half hours.
During Williams and Tricia’s tenure, they reported on numerous breaking news stories, including the 9/11 (September 11) terrorist attacks. Williams had a significant moment during a cooking segment with the “Midnight Gourmet.” His producer, Dan Romito, informed him and Tricia through their earpiece that something was happening at the World Trade Center, and they had live video footage.
They quickly went on air with the news, beating the networks and other local stations. In fact, they witnessed United Airlines Flight 175 crashing into the south tower live on their broadcast. It was a transformative moment for the entire team. Now, Williams’ career at Fox19 NOW has come full circle, as they have returned to the evening slot as the evening anchor, reuniting with Tricia once again.
